Trains, trains, and more trains!


DSC_0687The holiday season is a great time to see some awesome train displays, quite often for free or a small donation.

New Oxford Library

Kids of all ages will enjoy our John Deere Model train on display the week before Thanksgiving through middle of January during library hours. This N scale train was purchased by the Friends of the New Oxford Area Library and is maintained by a volunteer. Enjoy the sound effects and see the smiles of the “kids” as the train goes by. We also have several books to help you build your own model train layout.
Littlestown library

Light up your holidays with the Littlestown Holiday Express Train!  Our HO gauge train travels to Memory Lane Village and ‘round again!  Start a new family tradition, reminisce about holiday trains of long ago, and stop in to exchange wishes for safe, happy holidays.  
Conewago Valley Railroad Club

This is a train museum open on the weekends only. It has a very large train display (in a rail car) operated by the Conewago Valley Rail Club. Admission is by donation. Vintage baggage car is open to the public if you aren’t afraid of heights.

The club will have the New Oxford Railroad Station open:

1st & 3rd Sundays from 1-5 pm. Santa will be there on December 13th.There will be “G” scale trains running and a large H P layout in the passenger car behind the station.

Cross Keys Village

The Harmony Ridge train room will be open Saturday and Sunday, November 28 & 29, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., and the display in the Health Care Center (second floor Gallery Lounge) will be open Sunday, November 29, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Both displays are then open Saturdays and Sundays until Christmas week, when the schedules expand to weekdays as well.
